Why do you spell Mowlana's name as "Mevlana"? Need I remind all that he was not a Turk?? He was a Persian for heaven's sake. Sheesh...

its hard to say it but i found this page as another example of western spoiled sufi pages, Mawlana Jalaleddin er-Rumi ,was a "Sunni" and a Turk I think the webmaster is persian and a member of shia (if Muslim) and I think its not the right of the ones who don't follow the way of Rumi to represent him, please dont forget that Rumi wasn't just a poet.

Oh God, grant:

Responsibility to scholars, Knowledge to the people, Light to the faithful, Faith to intellectuals, Understanding to fanatics, Commitment to those who understand, Intelligence to women, Dignity to men, Awareness to elders, Nobility to young people, Ideology to academics, Ideology also to students, Wakefulness to the sleeping, Willpower to the wakeful, Truth to preachers, Religion to the religious, Commitment to authors, Sensitivity to artists, Intelligence to poets, Purpose to researchers, Hope to the hopeless, Energy to the weak, Outspokenness to traditionalists, Uprising to the sedentary, Motion to the immobile, Life to the dead, Vision to the blind, Shouting to the silent, The Quran to the Muslems, Ali to the Shi'ites, Unity to our groups, A Cure to the jealous, Fairness to the selfish, Politeness to the impolite, Patience to Mojaheds, Self-awareness to the people, And to all our nation, the power to make decisions, And the capacity for self-sacrifice and glory.

I don't know what will happen when I die; Of what use will be the ground wherein I lie. If a potter could make something of this clay, Then this is what I would sincerely pray -

That my throat become a whistle for a child, Mischievous, rebellious and wild,

Who would blow it without ceasing, with such zest That he'd rouse the sleeping people from their rest;

Who would fill my throat again with his own breath, And end the awful silence of my death.

I would like say, from the depths of my heart to all who would care to listen, Maulana Rumi was a Muslim. That means, you see, that he was trying to tell us about Allah! Maulana was informing us that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah! Please dear people understand that these poems and experiences were not just manic jibberish to be interpretted by every one with free time in his or her own way. This was all for the One! And HE IS ALLAH. If you want to even begin to submit, as Maulana invits us, then leave that which can never benefit you and enter into Islam. No more time for garbage money making entertainment. Our souls are the point here!

Rumi wrote a poem about children where the basic idea is that children are not ours to force into a mould, but rather are given to us for only a time for us to nurture. Anyone know the poem I'm referring to? If so, please e-mail me and tell me where, perhaps even on this website, I can find it.

Greatly appreciated. your effort and job well done could not have a value. One thing though, this is a constructive one, don't you think if the name Molana was used instead of Rumi would have been better. My reason is; that Turkish ( people from Turkey) would love that we call Molana Jalal-edin with nick name of Rumi, so they can take advantage of this valuable Iranian poet. This is just a thought. If you go to my page at: http://www.sanibrite.on.ca/iran/iran.html and click on “Reincarnation” you will notice that I have used a poem from Molana, but did not call him (Rumi). On the time Rum was part of Iran, now that is located inside Turkish territory, we would not want to give our valuable poet away FREE!
